A message has been left for you

If you are reading this, someone arranged for a private message to be kept safe and made available to you. This page explains what to expect and how to access it. There is no rush.

    Why you have been contacted

Y.O.D.O. is a service that lets people write private messages and choose who should receive them. Some people use it to share words they want someone to have after their passing.

You have been contacted because someone named you as a Recipient. Their message may contain a personal letter, practical information, or words of comfort. Whatever it holds, it was written with you in mind.

    How to access your message

You will receive a secure link. Messages are never sent by email. The person who wrote your message chose how you would verify your identity.

    Accessing your message

When your message is ready, you will receive a secure link. Click the link when you feel ready. There is no rush.

    1. Step 1

      Open your secure link

Click the link when you are ready. It will take you to a private page. You do not need to create an account or log in.

    2. Step 2

      Confirm who you are

The person who wrote your message chose one of two verification levels:

      Simple verification

You confirm your identity using the phone number or email address they provided for you.

      Enhanced verification

You complete a full identity check, which may include photo ID such as a driving licence or passport. This is handled by our verification partner, Persona. Y.O.D.O. does not receive or store a copy of your ID.

Having difficulty? If you are unable to complete the identity check, contact our team. We may be able to offer an alternative, although access cannot be guaranteed if identity cannot be confirmed.

    3. Step 3

      Read and save your message

Once your identity is confirmed, you will be able to view the message. It may contain written words, a voice recording, a video, or attached files.

We recommend downloading a copy so you can keep it and return to it whenever you wish.

    Saving your message

Your message will remain available for 12 months from the date it was released. After that, it is removed. We encourage you to download a copy for safekeeping. If you need more time, contact support and we will do what we can.

    Your privacy

Your message is private. Only you, as the named Recipient, can view it after confirming your identity. Y.O.D.O. staff do not read or review message content.

The identity check exists solely to confirm you are the intended Recipient. No one else can access your message.

    Keeping your information safe

Never share one-time codes, passwords, or identity documents by email or messaging app. If we need documentation from you, we will provide a secure way to share it.

    Recipients under 18

If the Recipient is under 18, a verified parent or guardian may access the message on their behalf. Learn more about how younger Recipients are protected
