Essential service communications
Some communications are necessary to provide the Service safely and fairly. You cannot opt out of essential service emails. These include:
Essential service communications are sent on the basis of contract performance under Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR and are necessary to operate the Service safely. They are not direct marketing under Regulation 22 PECR and do not require your consent. They cannot be switched off while your account is active.
Where we use SMS for verification codes or other essential service purposes, the same principles apply. Optional support channels such as WhatsApp are separate and governed by the relevant provider's terms.
Optional notifications
Where the Service offers optional notifications (for example, certain in-app notifications), you can control them in settings. See your account settings for available notification controls.
Marketing
Marketing communications are separate from essential service communications. Where we send marketing, you can unsubscribe at any time:
- Using the unsubscribe link in the email, or
- By contacting info@yodo.ltd
We will not require marketing consent to use the core Service.
For more detail on marketing lawful bases (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR for new prospects; Regulation 22(3) PECR soft opt-in for similar services to existing customers), see our Marketing Preferences notice.
EEA users
EU PECR (transposed via the ePrivacy Directive in each Member State) applies to electronic mail marketing to EEA recipients. The same essential-vs-marketing distinction applies. Where we contact an EEA user with a marketing email we will rely on the local PECR-equivalent basis applicable in that Member State and we honour all unsubscribe requests immediately.
